Some days I think to myself: "What an odd workplace we have".
Our work hours are Tuesday to Friday 9:00-5:00, so we say. But in reality there are a few days in a week that a few of us work from 5:30-1:30 or 7:00-3:00. Organic&Clean is growing, but our team members probably don't notice this growth as much as I do, as the girls rarely see anyone other than their work partner. We never work in the same place twice in one week which gives us variety, but during the month we do see the same client often. Daily our location changes but within the month we know what clients to expect and we know their homes very well. This allows us to get into a routine in each home and start to understand how each family works. Some are so clean we do not know why we come, or if they just cleaned before we came. Then there are those that we can tell need our help, and we are ready for the challenge of the day.
Every company has its pros and cons, and one of those cons is that the workplace can become a stale and predictable environment. I feel that part of my job is to see how I can make Organic&Clean a little better each year. We love to go out for lunch or get our nails done but I will admit that the larger we get, the harder it becomes to gather the team together, and it also becomes much harder to think of good ideas than I thought it would be.
Coffee and a muffin- This is my brilliant idea. As you can see it's not very out of the box and it is just coffee or tea. But the idea is to meet every 2nd Friday before our work day and drink coffee and visit with the whole Organic&Clean team. We just started a few months ago, and I loved seeing the whole group of us together. It's a perfect time to make announcements or discuss concerns but sometimes there is nothing important to talk about so we just enjoy chit chatting for 45 minutes- just the women and Jonathan. (good thing he likes this kind of thing!)
The last few months have been hard on us and our staff as we have been trying to find the right fit for our team. We have had a few people come and go and I could see it taking a tole on all of us. Also, the added workload and schedule changes are hard to keep making. Needless to say, we felt like our team needed something new, and maybe we just needed time to recap funny story's or to vent frustrations. I am hoping this will be something that can help build our team up and into a closer group! It's a very little thing but, who knows, maybe it's what we need. Guess we'll wait and see. But for now the coffee is great and it's nice to see everyone laughing and smiling!
THANKS TTYL!
